The Importance of the Humanitarian Logistics Certification Programmes (HLCP)
In recent years, we have seen the devastating effects of various conflicts and both manmade and natural disasters as well as the impact of the Covid pandemic. To efficiently provide humanitarian aid and logistical support to those in most need of help, the need for skilled and effective practitioners in the Humanitarian sector has become more obvious.
The Programmes were first launched in 2006 following the destructive impact of the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami. In the aftermath of this event, the need for adequately skilled and competence Logisticians was identified and the Programmes were created to fill this gap.
Since they were first launched, hundreds of Humanitarians have studied with LLA, achieving graduation and becoming a Certified Logistician with the knowledge and skills needed to provide effective aid and assistance to those in need. The Programmes help to develop an increased level of knowledge and competency for students and graduates, and an industry recognised Certification that is supported by the Humanitarian sector.
We provide three Programmes for those working and aspiring to advance within the Humanitarian sector:
| |
Certification in Humanitarian Logistics (CHL) - Ideally suited for those working or aspiring to work in the Humanitarian sector, CHL provides Logisticians with the core skills and expertise needed to build capacity and provide vital aid and support to those in need.

Take a Virtual Tour of ICRC Regional Logistics Centre in Nairobi
Since the launch of the Fritz Institute – CILT Humanitarian Logistics Certification Programme (HLCP) in 2006, LLA has been delighted to be working alongside International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to deliver our Programmes to their staff. ICRC has been a huge supporter of HLCP and we are delighted to continue to work with them to develop our relationship.
As part of our evolving partnership, we were delighted to visit ICRC’s Regional Warehouse and Logistics Centre in Nairobi in 2022. We have been honoured to be allowed to visit ICRC’s Regional Centre, with our students learning valuable insight into how ICRC operates and gaining knowledge of internationally renowned best practices in storing and distributing aid and other essential goods.
In this video, we take a closer look at how ICRC functions with an in-depth tour of their Centre:
